In an effort to expedite its facility at Portland and York, Get Space has awarded the construction contract to Seattle-based Sea Con LLC. The award stemmed from a negotiated bid process, in which Sea Con consulted in the early stages of the project to advise on construction costs and methodology.
The facility will be a ground-up infill in excess of 100,000 square feet. At six stories tall and positioned prominently on the corner of NW York and NW 22nd Ave, this facility will be a focal point of the Slabtown neighborhood. Given the swelling housing bubble in Portland, the opening of Get Space's Portland & York can not come soon enough. Locals are squeezing into smaller spaces at higher rates, and they need a secure, nearby home for their displaced treasures.
This is not the first partnership between Get Space and Sea Con, as the pair are currently building Vancouver & 139th. The SW Washington facility has been an excellent proving ground for Sea Con; the contractor has shown a superb work ethic, drawn on industry expertise, and efficiently scheduled to make V139 one of Get Space's best facilities to date. Simply put, the decision to partner on PORK was easy for Get Space Partner and Co-Founder Benjamin Bradley. "Portland & York was going to happen quickly, and we really enjoy working with Sea Con. We can't wait to see the next amazing build we will tackle together!"
